While surfing over at ancestry.com I discovered the Tennessee marriage license for Sherman Cleveland Snypes and Pearl Willis.
What I find most interesting…well I’ll come back to that.
What I find interesting is the premise of the license: In Tennessee in 1921, you signed a bond for $1250.00. If a lawful cause was ever found why Sherman and Pearl couldn’t legally marry, they became liable for the money. Interesting system.
What I find REALLY interesting is that two young lovebirds from North Carolina went to Tennessee to get married! (They both would have been 19 in September of 1921.)
Inquiring minds want to know!
Sherman Snypes and Pearl Willis are the grandparents of Rebecca Ann Snipes
